Working at Panasonic New Zealand

As an employer of choice, Panasonic New Zealand prides itself on providing employees with work-life balance, as well as offering many benefits. These include:

Paid Training

The Company will pay for both job specific skills such as MS Office, People Management and MSCE certification; and personal development such studying towards a Business Diploma or Degree. Where you choose to enrol for personal development courses, you will pay for the first course upfront and upon proof of you passing your exam, the Company will refund you for that course. You can then use that money to pay for the next course etc until the full programme is completed.

Superannuation

Panasonic New Zealand believes that as a responsible employer, we should help encourage our employees to save for their retirement. We have access to a corporate superannuation scheme (through Superlife’s Master Trust) and the Government’s KiwiSaver Scheme. Superlife’s Master Trust provides a variety of funds for employees to choose from, depending on their tolerance for investment risk. We have also chosen Gareth Morgan KiwiSaver as our preferred provider for KiwiSaver, which is where all default enrolments will have their funds but employees may choose their own provider if they prefer.

Permanent employees will be entitled to a Company contribution of 4% of gross earnings, which can be used for one of the schemes above, or a combination of the two. For example, as the minimum KiwiSaver Contributions are only 2%, you may want half the contributions to go to KiwiSaver and half to a Superlife fund. If you choose to participate in KiwiSaver you must contribute at least 2% of your own earnings and you choose to participate in the Superlife fund, your own contributions are optional. Fixed Term and Casual Employees (on an employment agreement of at least 28 calendar days) will be entitled to 2% Company contributions as legislated under the KiwiSaver Act.

More information is available to new employees in their induction.

Remuneration & Rewards System

Panasonic New Zealand has designed a remuneration and reward system to assist us in achieving our goal of being New Zealand’s leading electronics company. To achieve this goal, our rewards system has been designed to:

• Attract and retain talented employees;
• Encourage achievement of Company and individual job objectives;
• Reward high performance and increasing levels of competence; and
• Facilitate the movement of employees throughout the Company.

Permanent employees are entitled to an extra allotment of annual leave when they reach the following years of service:

• 2 weeks’ extra holiday after 10 years’ service;
• 2 weeks’ extra holiday after 15 years’ service;
• 3 weeks’ extra holiday after 20 years’ service;
• 3 weeks’ extra holiday after 25 years’ service.

Parental Leave

In addition to the Government sponsored paid maternity leave scheme, Panasonic New Zealand will pay the mother a special bonus (the equivalent of one week’s salary) at the time she is due to go on parental leave. The Company will also pay father’s one week’s paid paternity leave.

Health Insurance

Permanent employees at Panasonic New Zealand can access a Company group discount with Southern Cross Insurance. An information pack will be provided to new employees in their induction.

EAP (Employee Assistance Programme)

Panasonic New Zealand understands that at various times in people’s lives they can go through professional or personal issues. To assist employees through these issues, the Company has contracted an external organisation – EAP Services – to provide private and confidential counselling. Employees can voluntarily use this service to assist them with budgeting/financial planning, person or work relationship issues, personal or work related stress, or grief. Panasonic New Zealand pays for these sessions but in order to preserve confidentiality, is never given the name of the employee seeking assistance.
