Skype Video Calling on a Mac & PC
- The current Skype for Mac OS application (ver 2.8) and Skype
for Linux (ver2.1 beta) do not support video calling from TV's.
Skype are working on this and you can find more information on the
offical Skype website:
https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10609/Why-can-t-I-see-the-video-picture-on-my-TV-when-my-friend-calls-using-video
Please note that this is a limitation of the Skype for
Mac OS and Skype for Linux applications and not the Skype
application on your TV.
- If you are Skyping someone on a Windows PC, video calling is
only supported by Skype for Windows version 4.2 or later. The
current version of Skype for Windows is version 5.1 and we would
recommend that Skype for Windows users use the latest version of
the application. This can be downloaded from:
http://www.skype.com/intl/en/get-skype/on-your-computer/windows
- Skype recommends that for video calling, the up speed of the
internet connection of both parties needs to be at least 1.2Mbps.
If the internet connection speed between you and the person you are
calling is not fast enough, video calling may not be possible.
