M
Mach (Multi-facet Asymmetrical Configuration Hyper-Pixel) Enhancer The MACH enhancer is an original Panasonic contour-emphasis signal processing technology. Drawing on the Mach effect, this technology enhances an object's contours in a way that best suits the way the human eye perceives objects. Noise is minimal, so you get a more natural-looking image with clear details and impressive depth.
Macro Mode Allows you to bring the camera close up to an object in order to snap a stunning close up photograph. You can focus on subjects as close as about 5 cm from the lens.
Manual Exposure Mode Manual Exposure Mode gives you full control over the aperture and shutter speed.
Manual Focus You can manually focus from 30 cm to infinity. A Manual Focus Assist function magnifies the image to check the focus.
MASH Multi-Stage Noise Shaping
MC Protector Helps you to protect the lens from scratches and other damage.
Mega Burst Imaging This feature allows you to take consecutive pictures at an incredibly quick rate, perfect for capturing fast-moving objects in high resolution. You can then view your shots on the camera's LCD screen to choose the shot you want and delete the rest.
Mega Optical Image Stabiliser This feature compensates for "handshake" when shooting still pictures to effectively prevent even the slight shake that can occur when pressing the photoshot button.
Mega-Pixel CCD All Lumix digital cameras have a mega-pixel CCD (Charged Coupled Device) which converts optical data into digital information. It lets you capture crisp, clear images in high resolution, and helps bring out a full range of expressive colour and detail.
Monotone (Playback only) Plays the image back in black and white.
Mosaic (R & P) Turns the image into a mosaic pattern.
MOS-FET Output Stage MOS-FET's have outstanding characteristics for audio power amp applications. In particular, they produce pure signal output by minimising crossover distortion during current-to-voltage conversion of the signal from the preamp stage.
Motion Image Recording with Audio Using the QuickTime Motion JPEG format, our Lumix digital cameras can record moving images with audio at a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The maximum time for each recorded segment varies depending on the camera model.
MPEG Moving Pictures Expert Group. International standard for audio and video compression. There are 3 levels of MPEG compression all offering different levels of quality and compression.
MPEG Digital Noise Reduction During playback, advanced 3D-DNR circuitry effectively and selectively removes only noise components from the signal. In addition, to suppress the compression noise characteristic or the MPEG format, Block Noise Reduction reduces the square-shaped "block distortion" that can easily occur in scenes of rapid motion, while Mosquito Noise Reduction reduces the noise around sharp edges that can look something like small flying insects. The result is stunningly clear image reproduction.
MPEG1 VHS quality offering around 250 lines of resolution. MPEG1 standard provide a video resolution of 352-by-240 at 30 frames per second (fps). This produces video quality slightly below the quality of conventional VCR videos.
MPEG2 DVD quality recording offering around 500 lines of resolution. MPEG2 is the compression standard, which allows the coding of studio quality video for digital TV, high-density CD-ROMS and TV broadcasting. MPEG2 offers resolutions of 720 x 480 and 1280 x 720 at 60 frames per second, with full CD-quality audio. This is sufficent for all the major TV standards including NTSC and even HDTV. MPEG2 is used by DVD-ROMS. MPEG2 can compress a 2 hour video into a few gigabytes.
MPEG4 E-mailing quality recording. Internet movie format. 4 modes to choose from in MPEG4 - Super Fine, Fine, Normal and Economy. MPEG4 is a graphics and video compression algorithm standard that is based on MPEG1 and MPEG23 and Apple QuickTime Technology.
MPEG4 Conversion Recording Video recorded in MPEG2 onto the hard disk or a DVD-RAM disc can be converted to an MPEG4 file and stored on an SD Memory Card, all in one easy step. This gives you a way to take along your favourite video entertainment for outdoor viewing with a "D-Snap SD Video Camera.
* - This function can be used for "Hard Disk to SD" and "DVD-RAM to SD" recording only.
MPEG4 Movie Messenger System Offers you a simple way to share your favourite moments with friends and family. MPEG4 is a high compression format that lets you record moving images that can be used on the Internet or as e-mail attachments. You can even choose from three recording modes: SuperFine, Fine or Normal, depending on what the situation calls for - it's up to you. You can even record movies to an SD Memory Card for added convenience.
MPEG4 Simultaneous Recording As you record a video program onto the hard disk, this function lets you also record the same program onto the hard disk as an MPEG4 (moving picture) file. Then, you can transfer the file to an SD Memory Card and view it anytime, anywhere using a "D-Snap" SD Video Camera or other device. The data transfers at a high speed (Economy Mode: 240x / Fine Mode: 60x)
* - Programs cannot be recorded directly to an SD Memory Card. Also, this function cannot simultaneously record data specified for "one generation of recording only." Also this function and the auto renewal program recording function cannot be used at the same time.
MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3). This is the most widely used compression technology for distributing music over the Internet. It compresses data to about 1/10th to 1/12th its original size.
MP3 and CD-R/RW Playback All models in the 2004 Panasonic Mini System line can play CD-R and CD-RW discs. That means CD compilations you make of your favourite music will be playable. In addition, all units can reproduce music recorded in MP3 format, the most popular method of compressing music on the Internet. You just download tracks from the Internet to your PC, transfer them to a CD-R or CD-RW disc, and play that disc on your stereo.
MP3 Playback Can playback MP3 audio disks. MP3 is a compressed audio format normally used on PC's. Can be burned to CD-R & CD-RW disks.
MP3 Title Searches The stereos equipped with the MP3 playback capability feature a function that enables title searching. This function enables easy searching for the many MP3 files that are contained on a CD-R/RW disc with the use of a joystick.
Multi-format Playback Panasonic DVD players enable playback of a wide range of software. Besides the traditional DVD-Video and DVD-Audio (some players are 2 channel) formats, they also offer playback of DVD-RAM and DVD-R discs. So recordings made on a Panasonic DVD Recorder for instance, can also be played back on a Panasonic DVD Player. For further enjoyment they will play CD, CD-R/RW, Video CD or Super VCD discs. For interfacing with a PC, pictures (JPEG) and music (WMA or MP3) downloaded onto CD-R/RW discs can be played back through a Panasonic DVD Player. This ability to playback a whole host of discs in a wide variety of recording formats puts a Panasonic DVD player at the heart of any AV Network System.
Multi "LIVE" Mode The PT-LB10NT can project images onto four separate windows from four different PC'S.
Multi Re-Master Processing This interpolation technology, a Panasonic original, increases the data density in CD or DVD signals to reproduce even high-frequency sounds outside the audible range. It increases spatial characteristics to create a level of sound quality that approaches the DVD-Audio format. Multi Re-master processing can also be used with compression formats such as MP3 and WMA to help compensate for signal loss. You get a full, rich sound that's difficult to distinguish from the uncompressed original, even when listening on a high-end sound system.
Multi-Station Transmission When a document has to be transmitted to two or more destinations, the numbers of all destinations can be entered with the document stored in memory. The Panasonic fax will automatically transmit the same document to each destination in sequence.
Multi Window Panasonic plasma televisions let you view images from two different sources at the same time. Select either Picture-and-Picture (P&P) mode (which shows the two images on separate halves of the screen), Picture-in-Picture (PIP) mode, or Picture-out-Picture (POP) mode.
N
Navigator Key By providing easy access to the Caller ID memory and the phone directory/dialler, you can control handset volume, ringer loudness and more.
New Day & Night Design In the daytime the face panel has a futuristic metallic look, but at night the acrylic panel section takes on a colourful atmospheric appearance. Besides the seven colour presets, there are more than a million RGB combinations that you can custom set yourself. The "Storm" setting changes colour over time, and the "Level" setting changes with the music's amplitude. Switch to whatever setting you like, whenever you like, to match your vehicle's interior or your mood.
Night Portrait Mode The MEGA O.I.S. minimise hand-shake at slow shutter speeds, to clearly capture subjects such as people and night landscapes.
Night Scenery Mode Lets you capture beautiful photos of lit-up landscapes or buildings at night.
Non-stick Coating Pan The bread pan features a convenient, non-stick coating. The bread loaf slides easily out of the pan, and helps eliminate the chore of messy clean-ups. Simply wash the bread pan and kneading blade in lukewarm water after use.
Normal Picture Mode (Program AE) The camera automatically sets the aperture and shutter speed according to the subject's brightness. You can also adjust the white balance, ISO sensitivity, and other settings* to make your photos look their very best. *Settings for these options can be adjusted in all modes except Simple and Moving Image modes.
