Panasonic sponsors the NZ Secondary School Mountain Biking Championship17th March 2015     By: Panasonic Media

It was a weekend of thrills and spills at the NZ Secondary School Mountain Biking Championship in Hunua Regional Park.

This exhilarating mountain bike competition is open to all New Zealand secondary school students. The event consists of a downhill event on Saturday and Cross Country riding on Sunday. To determine the winners and overall champion, the riders are encouraged to participate in all events across the weekend.

This year, Panasonic New Zealand sponsored the downhill event. This thrilling track sees rider's clock speeds of up to 75 KM/H, as well as tackling some steep drops and tricky terrain.

Ethan Rose completed the downhill event quickest and was awarded first place, followed by Lachlan Stevens-McNab and James MacDermid in third. Scarlett Buissink came in first for the female category.

The NZ Secondary School Mountain Biking Championship encourages participation, developing skills in the various disciplines of mountain biking, and fostering promising talent to compete in other events in New Zealand and abroad.
