Panasonic Toughbook at Volvo Ocean Race23rd March 2015     By: Panasonic Media

Last week the Volvo Ocean Race set sail out of Auckland with the fleet of yachts starting on Leg 5 of the race, into the Southern Ocean.

The Volvo Ocean Race is acknowledged as the greatest sailing test with sailors battling through the world's most hostile seas. To navigate through these tough conditions and deliver the best performance possible, the sailors need to rely on their equipment.

A number of the Volvo Ocean yachts are equipped with Panasonic Toughbooks and Toughpads. They are engineered with military grade specifications to withstand tough usage conditions and exposure to dust, grime and water.

Panasonic's Toughbooks are the world's most durable, reliable and secure laptops and tablets, with a long history providing rugged technology solutions that can cope with the demands of ocean racing. They have been used in the Americas Cup campaigns with Team New Zealand, as well as previous Round the World sailing regattas.

When the fleets were in Auckland for their stopover, Yachting New Zealand offered the opportunity for attendees to go inside the yachts and discover what life is like on-board. Panasonic teamed up with Yachting New Zealand and had a live demonstration stand that displayed Toughbooks and Toughpads.

The live demonstration stand offered attendees the chance to experience the Toughbooks and Toughpads first hand with the FZ-G1 Toughpad, a Semi-Rugged CF-53 Toughbook and two Business Rugged CF-AX2 Ultrabooks on display.
